Why Use?

What is Overtime Pay?
Overtime pay is the additional compensation you receive when you work beyond your standard contracted hours. It is designed to fairly reward employees for the extra time and effort they contribute above their normal working schedule.

How Does Overtime Pay Work?
If your normal rate is ₹150/hour, your overtime rate at 1.5x = ₹225/hour.

Example : You work 52 hours in a week (48 regular + 4 overtime):
Regular pay: 48 × ₹150 = ₹7,200
Overtime pay: 4 × ₹225 = ₹900
Total weekly pay = ₹8,100

Pay typeRateHoursTotals
Standard$1040$400
Overtime$1510$150
Total pay 50$550

Time and a Half Rate
For standard overtime, you receive one and a half times your normal hourly wage.
Formula: Overtime rate = Regular hourly rate × 1.5
Example : Ankit earns ₹180/hour. His overtime rate = 180 × 1.5 = ₹270/hour.

Double Time Rate
For working on public holidays or special occasions, some employers offer double pay.
Formula: Double time rate = Regular hourly rate × 2
Example : Ankit earns ₹180/hour. His double time rate = 180 × 2 = ₹360/hour.

Overtime Rules in India
Under the Factories Act 1948, any worker who works beyond 9 hours in a day or 48 hours in a week is legally entitled to overtime wages at twice their regular rate. Rules may vary depending on your industry, state, and the nature of your employment. Always verify with your HR department or refer to your state labor department guidelines.

Holiday Pay in India
India observes several national and state-specific public holidays. While the law requires employers to grant paid national holidays, compensation for working on these days varies by company policy and employment contract. Check your HR policy document for your specific holiday pay entitlements.
